DOT gas tax rebate form

Hey All,<br />I've been saving my gas receipts this year because I know I can apply for a 17.5 cent rebate per gallon of gas used in my boat. I live in Virginia and can not find the form on the Viginia DOT web site. Can anyone help me find this form so I can get the rebate?<br />Thanks, Marty

I wish I lived in a state where recreational boaters could get the tax back. In Ohio only commercial boat operators can get the refund. I contacted the state and they said that a portion of the highway tax went to waterways. After that I researched it and the amount that goes to waterways is like .2 percent or something like that.

Same Reasons as to why Farmers don't pay a Tax on Tractor Fuel...............<br /><br />It's Non-Road Use.........<br /><br />Not All States agree on that though,.. I guess Va. Does.......

You wouldn't have a link the the rebate form handy for another tar heel would ya. Since I put my new motor in I have to run premium and you can't get that on the dock.

70mustang, The VA fuel tax refund form for boats changed a little this past summer. The newer form is TS217 dated 6/6/05. The one difference is that you must have your name and address on each fuel receipt. Here is a link to the new form: http://www.dmv.state.va.us/webdoc/pdf/ts217.pdf

In Missouri, the marinas on the Lake of the Ozarks that pump gas provide a receipt that lists the tax as a separate item.<br /><br />You must provide receipts and if they audit you, you had better be able to prove the gas consumption by the hours on your boat, etc.
