double line to 1 line fuel conversion

I am currently converting a 1956 evinrude 30hp to a single line fuel line and adding a mikuni fuel pump. This is my first time with the conversion. My question is the fuel nipple on the carb filter bowl is for a 3/16" fuel line and the mikuni fuel pump nipples are larger, so what is the easiest way to get the 3/16" fuel line onto the fuel ports of mikuni pump?
any help appreciated.
thanks

Hi Boarter1010. Great old motor you got there. When in doubt, I would go with the smaller diameter hose. You want the connections to be as tight as possible. The hose should be able to stretch enough to fit over the larger nipple without any major issues. Pipe clamps at each connection will also ensure that the connections are nice and tight. Here are some great links for walking through the entire job from start to finish. Good luck. Holler if you get stuck.

If the hose diameters are too different to use one sized hose, go to your auto parts store and find a fuel line coupler w/the 2 correct sized nipples to step the hose sizes from pump out-carb in. good luck!

Re: double line to 1 line fuel conversion

thanks for the quick reply and great info. i did get the fuel lines on. I actually used a heat gun to lightly heat the fuel line end and then it slipped right over the nipple. worked great. I think part of the problem was that it is still pretty cold here in the Chicago area and the fuel line rubber was not pliable enough. i already have rebuilt the carb, new fuel lines, tapped bypass cover for pulse vac fuel pump wired it up for the electric start and mounted the start solenoid to the upper bypass cover. has newer coils and points/condensers already. Last thing to do is recheck compression and replace the impeller. i am addicted to these 50's omc motors. i also have my grandpas bought new 1955 johnson 5.5. Thing runs like a top. the only downside is not enough hp for my boat. I think the 30hp should move my 1966 Starcraft sea fare 14' pretty good.
thanks again for all the help.

yeah that was the pump I was going to get, but I chose the metal one for durabilty and price was only $19 shipped to my door. The briggs and stratton model you mentioned I have seen on ebay new for $12. I am sure it would work also.
