Re: double proping
I saw it once at IMTEC and never again. I dont think they showed it in Miami. Maybe they did once. It looked kinda cool. If I remember right it was aimed at the drag guys.

A neat concept on the props. Only one was actually working until the motor turned a certain rpm and then the second prop kicked in by hydraulic pressure.

That was always a couple of problems with putting big power in front of something like a VP Duo-prop. Lets say you had twin Duo Prop drives in a boat and the motors were 550 hp each. The props were in the 28 to 30 inch pitch range. The motors had to idle high enough so when you dropped it in gear it didnt stall. Remember you just put 2 30" props in gear at the same time.

OK, now you got that figured out. So both motors idle at -- say 550 rpm in gear. Now youre moving 4 30" wheels at idle. That tends to move the boat pretty fast even at 550 rpm. It could be a problem in a "No Wake" zone. Docking was exciting too.

Anyway as far as the "Duces Wild" outboard went, I dont know what ever happened to it. It had a pic of 4 playing cards on the hood. 2 of spades, 2 of diamonds. etc.

How popular is the Yamaha unit? I cant remember seeing one around here.
