Downrigger Mounting Advise

Hey guys,

Looking to mount my downriggers on our 17' hourston glasscraft. Thought I'd ask around for some advise before I start drilling. I have manuals at the moment but would like to easily switch to electrics in a few years (without drilling additional holes in my boat)

I'm leaning towards using the swivel pedestal and making a UHMW/marine board shim to address the step. It would be awesome if someone who has a boat with similar gunnels could post a couple pictures of their mounting setup.

There are D/R mounts that bolt to the inside of the gunnels, the 90* angled base slides into it.

Check out the link, scroll down to the mounts, these aren't the only ones like this, just the first pics I found. The swivel base can be mounted on top of the slide in bracket. so you have both features.
