I have a 1988 Skip Jack 28' FB. It is powered by a AQ271C. I am having trouble identifying the outdrive. I've attached a picture. I believe it is a 280 or 290 but not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: DP identification

It looks like a 290dp, It has power trim right? With a trim gage at the helm?

Re: DP identification

Since the engine is the AQ271C then it is definitely a 290DP.

Re: DP identification

Looks like a 290 because of the hook up fork.

Re: DP identification

for 1988, it should be a DP290A. It looks just like mine.

Yes it does. I'm a lucky man as my son's friend just gave the boat to me. And it has a newly re-built engine. Can't wait to get it out on the water to catch some halibut.

Thanks again for your quick replies!

Re: DP identification

make sure you do the basics, check the drive oil level, impeller, etc.

the drive oil is synthetic gear lube.

welcome aboard.
