Hi
I had a missfortunate event where i cracked the case on the lower leg , shop said lower leg is unusable and quoted me for a reman or new. I have heard that i might be able to put on the lower leg also SX-M lower leg .

My old outdrive was DP-SM 1.95 with just 160 hours so if it worth i could reuse the old upper leg .

from what i found i could use SX_M with either 1.43 or 1.51 on SX-M.

So i plan to keep an eye on ebay or various adds to buy something used and i was wondering about compatibility .

I understand that DP is superior to single prop but as i dont use it much single prop might just do what i need .
Also not keen on using the old props .

My engine is VP 5.7GS and the transom is sx-c1.

Many Thanks

never step backwards from a DP to a single screw.... you wont be happy.

i would have the lower taken apart, then welded up, and put new bearings in it.

old gear case was so bent the shop had to cut the case open , so nope saving old case was not a choice.
without the pros and cons i just need to know what would be compatible.with existing upper leg .

Thanks

The DP-SM lowers will frequently show up used on ebay. I was able to find 2 in the past that were reasonably priced and just needed sealing. I agree with previous poster though. You will be a little disappointed going back to a single after having a duo prop setu.
