First timer for removing my DP-SM and inspecting gimbal bearing and bellows. The drive came off easily but there were a couple of surprises. The manuals say there should be a jam nut on the shift cable cube ... there wasn't one (pic 4096)! Also, there was no C-Clip on the drive side of the exhaust bellows (pic 4105). This is a 2001 DP-SM - has the design of the bellows changed so that the C-Clip retainer on the exhaust bellows is no longer required? Did the last guy that serviced this drive (last maintenance record I could find suggests this happened in 2011!) just forget the jamb nut and C-Clip retainer?
The drive as worked perfectly and the bellows, U-joint and gimbal bearing all look great so maybe the C-clip retainer and jamb nut aren't critical parts? I'm going to replace the bellows anyway.

Also wanted to show off my swim platform mounted trolly system to support the drive. Used a piece of uni-strut and a heavy-duty trolley. It worked great - pic 4106.
