Hi, I replaced the trim/tilt hoses on my DP-SM drive.
No problem removing the flare nuts on the rams and on the transom shield.
Here is the question : how do you tight the flare nuts located on the transom shield - see photo for details ? There is no space and the conventional flare wrenches are too big to fit....
Is there any special tool or I have to grind properly a wrench?
Any help is appreciated
Thanks

Ayuh,.... I don't do much with Volvo, but I'd just use a plain ole open-end wrench,.....

Takin' 'em apart is usually the problem, 'n when ya need tubin' wrenches,....

They ain't that big, 'n don't need to be over-tightened,.....

If ya take that nut off, does the manifold pull out,..??

The seal as I'm sure you know is an "O" ring so they do not require too much tightening. I used a brake pipe spanner on mine but I had to grind it down.
I had to pull the whole manifold and replace it as I could not get the originals out even with heat. (saltwater boat)

Thank you for your replies. I took a look at the VP manual for the drive and found that they suggest to tight first the lower flare nut and than the upper one. In this case I believe I can use a standard flare nut wrench for the lower flare ( there is space). I grinded a wrench and see if it works for the upper flare.
Torque is 9.5 - 12.2 Nm according to VP.
Going to the boat today and let know it this works
Thanks again
