I have twin 290 dpe drives one makes a clunk when it goes into gear.I took the double bearing box apart and it all looks good , the gap on the nut on top is within spec, the bearings feel good , seams to have little wear . There is only 300hrs on the drives and work fine .I drained the oil and it was clean with 100 hrs on this season , any thoughts on what would cause it to clunk. Thanks Rick

You might have to get in the water and feel for play in the outdrives. Play in the outdrive will cause clunking. I know first hand.
