I've had a Sears Big 16 double V hull boat for several years now. It has a drain plug in the rear that is installed from the inside of the hull and is a screw fitting with a o-ring at the top of the plug. A few years ago I over-tightened the plug a couple of times. This has caused the plug to leak where none existed previously.
For the past two years I've been able to use plumbers tape on the plug and things remained dry but this year the plug despite several wraps of the tape, leaks around the plug.
I'm not sure just replacing the plug is going to suffice. The threaded hole is probably damaged as well, correct?
What's the best way to go about repairing/replacing this plug and drain?
