Help, I have a 99 four winns horizon 200 with a volvo penta type DP-SM outdrive. I can't find the drain plug in the pivot housing that the owners manual refers to in the winterization process.

You have to remove the props. The drain plug is behind the inner prop.

...if you go to www.dougrussell.com and look in the Volvo parts section there will be parts diagrams and you can see where the drain is on the pivot. My Cobra has 3 drains...on one side there are 2 and 1 on the other side...and you have to tilt the drive up to see one of them. I looked at the one for the 99s and there was no drain on the pivot but there was one on the earlier ones....I wonder if they changed the casting and eliminated that drain plug...it would look like the drain screw for the lower unit..big screw for a flat head screwdriver...

btw...there is also a slot...where the drive bolts to the pivot housing...that has to drain...if it clogs it will crack the housing...so look for the slot (right near the lower edge of the drive where it bolts to the pivot) and slide a very thin screwdriver in to make sure that area drains...or even better...remove the drive check the bellows u-joints and gimble bearing and of course any trapped water will drain out...
