Hey guys, I graduated to a 17'. I plan on building a bench across the back with a hinged lid. Being 6'-3" and 285 lbs.I figure it might make quite a show watching me put the plug in. On my tinny I just reach down and presto, but this is different. Do you fellas put the plug in from the outside behind the motor or run the plug inside with a bilge pump. I'm new to this bigger craft, BIGGER is BETTER right.

Re: Drain plug ? inside or out

Another topic that has been beaten to death. If you can reach it from inside the boat and don't have a bilge pump, it goes inside. That way if you do take on water you get on plane, pull the plug and out goes the water. If you have a bilge pump, it doesn't matter where it goes. You turn on the pump. If you can't reach it from inside, then it goes outside. If the plug is a garboard (threaded style) then you have no choice. It goes outside.
