I purchased a 1985 wellcraft 230 aftcabin this spring. Engine was rebuilt in 1999, ran for 40 hours then stored in boat-motel after winterized until this past spring.
I ran engine while on trailer with hose water for tune-up and check. All seam good. NOW I want to winterize until next spring for some hull work. I found drain cocks on each side of engine block, BUT can not find any valve or drain means on either manifold or riser. They are center risers and look new with rubber joints. Does this model manifold & risers have self draining down thru the engine block drain cocks? Can Anyone help me on this problem. I think the manifolds and risers must have been replaced during the 1999 engine rebuild. They all look new.

Nope,... No how, No way....

You might have to pull the bottom hoses or whatever, if there's no drains....

Also, pull the Big hose off the circulating waterpump,... It'll hide enouh water to do Damage...
And,... Pop either of the Big hoses off the P/Steering Cooler, or it'll be Junk by spring....

Thanks for the info. I will follow all your tasks. Good thing I ask, Huh.
Thanks again
By the way, should the manifold and riser have drain cocks installed?
I will do this if its standard practice, But where do they go?
My previous boat with a 6 cyl. OMC inline had drain cocks on engine block, manifold and riser.

Ayuh,....

Mine have no special Hole for the drains either,....
I went with the brass elbow that has a drainhole in it.....
I've also see going into a Tee fitting with the hoses forward,+ the drains down...

Whatever you choose,... Whether pulling hoses, or adding drains,...
Just make sure you get All the standing water out,+ you'll Never have Frozen Block syndrone...

There's a SSteel dreckscrew that lives on my intake manifold,...
Just so I have the proper Tool whenever I have to drain the System......

Good Luck,....
