I have already dug the trench that we will putting the sewage pipe in, but I was wondering how much of a degree the pipe needs to be on from the trailer to the septic tank.
A person at the home depot said it should be 1/4" for every foot.
Does anyone know if this is correct, or where I can get the proper info on this?
All I need is for the pipes to get backed up. yuck.
I do not want to have to dig them back up and clean them out because they got plugged.
The length of the pipe is 150 feet from the trailer to the tank.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Brother Chris.

Re: drainage ditch elevation question

Wow, thanks Way577.
That is exactly what I needed.
I printed some stuff off the web site so my bud can look at it. We have some disagreements on how we are doing this. But now that I have a picture from a valid source, he can't argue.
One more question: Do we need to put a bed of sand under the pipe to cushion it so rocks do not break the pipe?

A good tamped sand bedding will keep the pipe in place and prevent any stray rocks from upsetting or breaking the pipe.

I think there is a misunderstanding here, the fall for a soakage field is less than that from house to tank. 1 in 48 sounds right from house to tank. 1/4'" in 10'sounds right for the soakage field.

I agree with Grant,........

1/4" in 10' is great for the Field Pipes,.....

From the house to the "D" box should be closer to an Inch in 10'................

Not trying to argue but wouldn't the poop get washed down the pipe when the toilet is flushed anyway? It would seem the large amount of water wwould get it on it's way?

i agree w/wayne as to his dwg..BUT bro chris asked for the slope from the trailer to septic tank.that being so its 1/4"per 1' for a tot. of 37.5" inthat case.
chris ,why is the septic tank so far fron the trailer? that makes for a lot of trenching ,usualy its w/in 5min.to 10' from the perimeter of the structure.

Re: drainage ditch elevation question

The standard here is 1 in 60 from house to tank.

Re: drainage ditch elevation question

The septic is far away because that is where the old chicken coup was. We tore it down and put my trailer there. Plus my buddy lives next to me in a barn. haha. But we have remodelled the barn to be like a house.
So the septic tank is by the house at the front of the property, we just had to add our lines to it.
We did manage to put the pipe in this past weekend and then put motar around the pipe.
I actually had to stand inside the tank to drill the hole after it was pumped out. That was absolutely disgusting!!!
At least no-one flushed the toilet while I was in there.
Just need a couple more fittings and I we are done, then we get to test it and see if it works like planned.
Thanks for all the input fellas.

This is one time you don't want any "output" from them, that is for sure! :D

For those who know, how difficult is it to put in a new drain field. I have two septic systems. One gray water and one brown. We recently had them pumped out and the gray water one actually started filling back up after it was pumped. The lowest part of my yard where all the water collects when it rains is where the drain field was dug. It is the wettest part of my property! I think they made an error by putting the drain field there. We have only been in this brand-new house for 7 years. If we have a combination of really wet weather and wash several loads of clothes, we will have water seep up out of the ground.

Heck, I'm going to start my own topic on this...
