Hi Guys,

Silly new to boat owning question. I have a 1994 Mercruiser Alpha One LX V6 engine in my boat and there is a Drive Oil Reservoir and an ATF/P.S. Fluid resevoir. Both appear low and the Drive Oil is far below the Fill Line. Should I be topping these off to the Fill Line? If so, with what kind of oil or fluid, i.e. what is Drive Oil and what kind of ATF fluid should I get?

Thanks so much!

Curt in Austin, TX

Make sure one of the resovoirs you are referring to is not the trim tab res.It also takes ATF.Check this when the tabs are in the full up position. Charlie

Wow thanks guys. I checked and it does say "Drive Oil" on the one in the upper back right and "ATF/PS Fluid" on the one connected to the belts. Should I top off the one that says "Drive Oil" with Gear Lube?

Thanks again,

Curt in Austin

Yes, but if the level on the drive oil drops again after topping it off you need to find out where you are losing it as soon as possible.
