Removed the outdrive on my (new) old 2003 boat, found this, besides how this looks everything feels just fine, no cracks, no evidence of heat/scorch, greased ok inside bearings, actually the drive shaft looks like new besides this, put back and drive on or does this needs to be replaced?

I think I would replace that. I`ve never seen that type of wear, obviously your knuckles are rubbing together, probably in a tight turn or perhaps running the drive in the up position to much. How were the U joints?

Most likely the motor was started with the rig very high up, there is no limiter, must have been noisy, the joints are fine, i have seen simular wear on some youtube videos and thought i ask around if its common that the joints break or crack..

This is from a video on internet, the areas looks flat and equal as would be expected if they are machine made, on mine they are slightly rounded an unequal but has a smooth surface..
