Driving me crazy - electrical problem with Volvo

So, have been battling with the boat for the last 2 months. I've done work, had work done, and am about at my wits end.

Scenario is, boat is not running but certainly in neutral, turn the key to the "run" position and get the audible alarm (beep, beep) telling me that everything should be good to go. I move to "start" and nothing.

This has happened a couple of times; sometimes after getting onto the water, sometimes can't even get off the trailer.

So far i have:
cleanned and replaced all leads to the battery
changed the starter and solenoid
checked all exposed connections to make sure that there were no loose wires

Anyone have a list of "common" electrical problems that i should start with??

Thanks in advance.

Will work through the linked thread - not sure it's the start key switch because i'm getting the warning acknowledgement. If it were that i'd expect that it wouldn't even respond to the switch to the "run" position. Thanks for the link!

It seems you're engine model is a Volvo Penta?

Just curious how the key switch working in Run position eliminates a problem with Start position? ;)

A 5.0 GXi is definitely a Volvo Penta engine. Moved this to Volvo section.
