Hello everyone,

Kessi and I (name of Admiral as well as the boat) picked up a 1994 Bayliner Capri 1950 with the Merc 3L (which I find is a sweet little engine) with Alpha 1 Gen II in it.
Not much wrong that I haven't figured out or found answers to here (great site everyone) but I do have a question as to my shifter likes to pop out of forward at no wake speed (500RPM, wondering if that is a little low).
Any idea's for me from you purveyors of wisdom?

Thanks

Clutch dog is bad. Is a little low should idle between 600-700 rpm in gear.

If it's not popping out of gear at higher loads (rpm) I doubt the clutch dog is the problem. Does sound like the shift cable needs some adjusting to go further into gear. If that is the case, and the cable has not been touched, you are probably due for a new cable as it's probably wearing inside the cable and not allowing full throw.
