When I start looking at finders/gps/accessories/transducers....I'm just lost.
They have a transducer for everything. Shoot thru hull that looks nothing like all the old ones stuck to the hull of my boat.
Mount outside of transom that DOES look like the old ones stuck to the inside of my hull.
Then there are more and my brain begins to swim.
I have a humminbird with temp and depth transducer mounted outside on the transom. Doesn't work when running and stays "stumped" position most of the time. If I put it inside, the temp won't read correctly.
Is there a way I can put this inside the boat and put a little temp sensor outside,,,and/or does anybody know EXACTLY what parts I need to order to do this?

Re: Drowning in transducer madness..HELP!!

Thought about this some more.
Front depthfinder/temp is a lowrance. Transducer inside the Minnkota, but, no temp.
Rear depthfinder/temp is Humminbird. Transducer outside of boat on transom. Gets beat up quite a bit.

I'd like to take the transducer off of the transom and "thru hull" it.
I'd like to mount a temp sensor outside.
I'd then like to tie the humminbird to it's transducer AND to the outside mounted temp sensor.
I think that can be done, but, not sure what parts to buy.
Figure I'd need.
1. a temp sensor
2. an adapter cable/splitter?
3. Can a person be lucky enough to find another adapter cable to tie the lowrance into the temp sensor as well?

WOW! The transom transducer..placement is critical and the read can go away at speed from cavitation as you know. You might try small adjustments in position. You could get a new thru hull transducer from humminbird, but loose sensitivity.
Running Lowrance at the console and front deck. Have you talked to MinnKota? I can't believe they would have a built in transducer without a temperature sensor also built in – ala Motorguide.

Linking the Lowrance to a temp sensor on the stern – why? Talk to Humminbird about cables. Even if they have split this division off like Lowrance did, they may be able to direct you to what you want.

Re: Drowning in transducer madness..HELP!!

Humminbird sent me a temp sensor for the driver mounted unit. Not hooked it up yet, but, they said just move the transducer from the transom-to-the inside and this temp sensor would then go in the transom and just plug right in.
(it that works, it was way too simple...no adapters).
Minnkota "in motor" transducers don't read temp. They only read depth.
Discovered that the transducer inside the motor was messed up, so, I just added the Lowrance transducer to the bottom of the trolling motor (like it was on the prev trolling motor I had).
It just gets knocked off of there every now and then.
