I'm looking at a 2000 19 foot Stingray I/O with 4.3L V6 that was stored over the winter with only 1/4 tank of gas. 30 gallon tank. I'm concerned that there will be water/condensation in the tank and I am looking for oppinions on dry gas. Isopropyl? Methanol? Do they work? I didn't see a fuel/water separator. Thanks.

Brian

Re: Dry Gas

Thats a good question that I'd like to know myself. I will say that the Clymer manual for my 94 Caravelle states NOT to use any type of alcohol fuel...blended or not.

well, out here, you do not have a choice on blended or not with alcohol, all of it contains 10% ethanol, which sucks.

oh yeah, you could drain it and refill it with new gas, if its above deck then take the filler hose off and let it air dry out after its been drained. Better yet, call a local marina and ask a mechanic what to do or is it safe

Re: Dry Gas

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to drain it. I looked up the specs on the boat and it actually has a 38 gallon tank so I figure it probably has 10 in it now. I assume the gas was stabilized but you never know. This stuff looks promising also.

http://www.mdramazon.com/54.htm

Re: Dry Gas

You can get a bottle of HEET from your local Wal-Mart or any automotive store, its easier accessible and probably cheaper
