I have an 86 DT 75 My problem is when the at idle this motor seems to running perfect. I can pull the plug wires off on at a time and hear the change in the idle. But when I put it in the water and go to give it throttle it acts like it starts missing. Then the longer it runs the worse it gets. It starts flooding and missing worse. Ok now what for what I have done to it so far. When I bought the boat the fuel system was full of trash and water. I did a complete system cleaning. Remove the tank and cleaned pulled carbs and broke them down and cleaned them. change fuel filter and added another filter to help with left over trash. After all this the motor still didnt run correctly was missing at idle on the number 1 cylinder. After lots of trial and error. I ended swapping the power reeds of the 1 and 2 cylinders. Then it was missing on the number 2 cylinder. So purchased a new set reeds and installed them. Also installed new plugs. Know like I said it runs perfect at idle. And it starts fairly easy as well. But now I have this running issue. I checked the compression in the cylinders and they read as follows.
NUMBER 1 115 PSI
NUMBER 2 125 PSI
NUMBER 3 120 PSI
Is there anything else I can check? And what is the norm for adjustment of the mixture screw or is that what that top front adjustment screw is.

Re: DT 75 running issues

If it is a Suzuki we have all had some sort of problems,First check fuel pump, make sure diagphram has no holes and look at rear seals.I would disconnect fuel hose to carb from fuel pump, put the end of hose in a clear jug and pump bulb.Look to see if any trash is in jug.If clean I wouldn't take apart.Second check to see if spark plugs are gaped right.Third make sure back plates in carbs are opening and closing at the sametime. If you have a water fuel seperator filter check that to,dump in a clear jug and look for trash. That just happen to me ,cleaned tank, rebuilt carbs, hoses, gas looked great coming into motor, took of fuel filter and it was full of junk from tank.one little piece got into number 3-carg and clogged jet.Suzuki's have little openings in jets.Just re-cleaned carbs. If all looks fine or you find alittle junk re-drain and clean tank, get a new fuel filter and re-clean carbs.I know it's a pain, but it's better than being out on the water and your carb is pissing out fuel."God speed"!Coach.
