i have a 1996 dt25c. i bought the motor from my neighbor after it had sat for about 10 years. he passed in 98 and in his log book, i can account for about 37 hours run time. excepted for a few runs on the hose by his son the motor has not seen the water in some time. here is my problem. i am in the process of rebuilding the carbs but i also seen on a post that a dt25 should have about 120psi on a compression test. i have 80psi across all three cylinders. am i wasteing my time on the carbs? any info good or bad?

Re: DT25 Suzuki

welcome to iboats :) ..... no that is fine ....... if they are all the same all is good, my guess would be that your tester might be off cause if a motor didn't run that much the compression should still be good .... but none the less you are not wasting your time ..... these are great motors believe me .... also check that all rubber hoses and pipes are still good and it is also a good idea to change the impellar and to check the gear oil ...... also make sure the oil injection works properly .....

Thanks for reassuring me on my problem. i was kinda worried because when i ran the motor the water pump was not working nor was it getting oil. those probs or gone. i hope the carbs do the trick.

Re: DT25 Suzuki

Crab repairs went fine she runs like a champ. Now the problem is that my prop is bent so I don't get the correct RPM's. I went to the Suzuki dealer and bought a suzuki tach so I can see what my RPM's are that way I can pitch the porp as needed. I have the tach working using the wires out of the shifter. my tach also has a monitor system on it ie. oil, temp and revs. does anyone know where to find the plug on the motor for the harness to plug into? i tried to find it by color code but don't see the same colors wires on the motor that are comming from the tach.

Re: DT25 Suzuki

Are you running this with a remote control or is it a tiller motor. Normally the Tach connects to the tails hanging from the remote. A Manual with schematics will tell you.
