Thank you in advance for your help. I have been reading on hear for a few weeks but now am at a loss and need help. I have a DT55 (1986) that has had idle issue. I purchased the boat a month ago and it ran great at high rpms but would stall after about 15 seconds at idle or if I tried to go fowrd or reverse at slow speeds. Compression is 110 in all 3 cylinders. Spark is good and spark plugs are gapped propperly. I reset the lean/rich air mixture to 1 and 1/2 turns with no change. I then replaced the fuel pump diaphram with no change. Next I cleaned the fuel filter (which was not dirty to start) and checked all fuel lines for holes and found a leak in one and replaced it. This made no change. I then replaced the fuel tank, line from tank to engine, bulb, and fitting to gas tank (nothing changed). Next I purchased a carb kit and rebuilt the carbs...and i mean i cleaned those things over two days with carb cleaner and compressed air. They idle jets were really clogged by the way so I was pretty excited that I solved the problem. I put everything together and when i started the engine it sounded great...I cant put my finger on it but it justr sounded better...then after 15 secends the idel slows as before and the coughs and it dies. I then tried to use the warm up bar just to see if it would run forever with it up as it would before and it wouldnt...it would die just as it used to at idle. AAAAAAA! Now, when I replaced the fuel pump diaphram there was no spring in the fuel pump but I did use the spring in the kit as there was a place for it in the fuel pump...could this cause a problem? I also took off the thermostat and verified that it is working and adjusted the throttle arm to the correct 4.5 inches. There are a few other things that seem a little off but i dont think they have anything to do with my idle issues. There is water coming out of the exhaust...i have been told this is normal and not so need some help here. Also, when the engine is turned on the water flow warning goes off for three to five seconds and then goes off. Oh, and i pulled the water flow sensor off and it works. I would truly appreciate your help and any ideas you guys might have.
