DT55 won't start

Hi ... my 1985 DT55 has 2 problems. It won't start unless I spray gas into the spark plug hole, and it will stall at low, near idle speed. Carbs were rebuilt about 5 years ago, new plugs this year, new gas this year, was told it could be fuel pump. Any ideas??

need to pull and clean carbs properly and then adjust like manual says after reinstalling.
Would not hurt to check compression and fuel pump pressure/vacuum.
Inspect/replace water pump

thanks for this information. I will try to find a manual to get the proper settings for the carbs. John
