I'd like to know the proper connection sequence for a dual battery setup (24 series deep cycle) on yamaha 130 2 stroke. The intention is to have 1 for engine only and the other for all acessories/backup to engine battery.
Also, I'd like to have both batteries charged by the engine as well. I need an isolator correct?

Thanks!
Nick

go by any yamaha dealer with your engine model number, look in the 2000 rigging guide on page 3-31 and all your questions will be answered.

u need a starting for the motor, deep cycle for the electronics
use and isolator would be the best choice

Re: Dual Batteries On Yamaha 130

thats why I sent you to the PROPER manual. as you did not post your model number thats all I can do.
if the 130 is NOT a C130 AND its a 1990 or above its as simple as purchasing the correct rectifier and lead assy from yamaha and presto shazamo, instant house battery charging with the engine isolator.
on page 3-32 and 3-33 there are diagrams of how to wire it with and without a batt switch. myself I wont wire it to the battery terminal as shown on page 3-33 , instead I take the isolator lead to the battery switch terminal to help protect it from corrosion from battery off gassing.
to use a standard Isolator you will need to break the circuit between the rectifier and the starter relay and take the rectifier output lead to the hull mounted isolator and then take each isolator output to its respective battery positive terminal or switch terminal.
so with a convetional Isolator we now have 5 connections to fail 2 more wires in the hull and an isolator that does not like moisture I dont care what it says on the case.
that coupled with your yamaha designed setup it works well with the rest of the charging system.

Rodbolt,
Thanks for the help.
The motor is a 1996.
I believe the model is "L130TXRU".

Thanks again.

Also, where can I purchase a rigging guide for this info?
I'd rather have it handy then running to a dealler whenever something comes up.
thanks
