dual battery setup

I am wanting to setup dual batteries, one for stereo, and one for starting. Instead of using a selector switch could I just use a relay and that when the alt. puts out charge would allow charging to go to both batteries and when it is off the are seperated.

Thankyou, I have never seen those before, I could still just use a relay though couldn't I? Maybe a relay would not be built strong enough for this. I don't know, it was just a thought I had.

I was interested in doing the same thing, but ran across a new version of the relay that was previously posted while perusing the new West Marine catalog. It's also half the price...

BatteryLink ACR

Scott

Re: dual battery setup

Thanks seseattle, I will do some checking on those, I still think my relay idea would work. I have sterea shop next door to where I work and the guy found me a relay that can handle the load easily for like $12. I am thinking about having him order it for me. I just won't get the pretty little lights like the combiners have.

You just need to design the cicuit that will turn on the relay when the charger is charging and turn it off when it's not.
