I saw an infomercial for this the other day <br /><br /> http://kinpow.en.alibaba.com/product/50049535/50226274/Cordless_Dual_Drill.html <br /><br />Then saw this while surfing the web (Video demonstration)<br /><br /> http://www.abc.net.au/newinventors/txt/s1361889.htm <br /><br /><br />Are these things really that necessary?? I mean it doesnt take much time to change a bit, and almost all drills have keyless chucks now. Am I the only one who would still rather have one decent 18v drill with a single keyless chuck??

Re: Dual Drill

Yeah, I saw that too. Seems like a waste of money to me. If it is that much of a problem to change a bit you need a different hobby in my opinion.

Plus I really have to think that extra chuck is gonna be in the way at some point.........making tight working environments near impossible.

I can't see it being useful.

Re: Dual Drill

Not to mention the price of $120 plus S&H (dualdrill.com). For that price you could buy a quality cordless drill from a long established company and get a quick change chuck adapter. Oh yeah, DualDrill offers FREE replacement batteries for life, you only pay the S&H, now try to imagine what the S&H will cost. <br />One other point, remember the world famous GINSU 50 year guarantee cutlery, well, the guarantee ended when they either went belly up or sold out.

Re: Dual Drill

My FIL likes to use s crews for everything. He also pilot holes everything. He keeps two drills set up for this. In one he has a drill bit and in the other he has the phillips head bit. This might actually be cool for him, except it's probably junk. :(

Re: Dual Drill

Look in any woodworkers supply catalog. They make a gizmo that drills a pilot hole, then you slip the Phillips in the gizmo. I have one out in the shop...and Harbor Freight has drill holsters and drills on sale all the time for cheap, dual drills, impress the neighbors, scare the kids, while walking around the house

Re: Dual Drill

My BIL does cabinet work and got one and it lasted about a week before it would not lock in place when you twisted it around.

Re: Dual Drill

My dad has horible arthritis... in his wood working shop, the work bench is lined with holsters on the front, and he has about 8 Harbor Freight cheapy drills. each will get loaded with different bits he will use in the process of whatever he's creating, no bit changing for him.

Re: Dual Drill

I think there is black & decker fire storm drill that you can remove th chuck with the drill bit, then you have a screw driver bit still in the drill. It seems safer and more compact than the dual drill.

B&D has it in the 18volt Non-firestorm model as well (I have that one)........I agree seems like the more sensible way to go. With the dual drill tools it seems like there are just to many parts that could break or things that could go wrong
