Dual Helm Steering Setup

I have a 33ft Chris Craft COHO. The boat has a flying bridge and also a lower helm in the salon. There is a lever on the side of the lower helm station with a cable that goes all the way aft to the rudders. The level seems to select which helm moves the rudders, although I am not sure. I have no experience with boats that have more than one helm station. Is this a common setup? If so does anyone know how it is supposed to work?

Thanks
eric

Re: Dual Helm Steering Setup

Rodbolt:
Boat is a 1974 Chriscraft COHO. The steering system is a push pull cable setup. The lever has two posistions. One for upper station and one for lower station. It has a push pull type cable that runs back to the steering gear in the stern of the boat. I haven't been able to climb back there to see exactly what this does. I am wondering if anyone has a setup like this on a two helm station boat.
THanks
eric
