Dual Steer cable/system needed for a 150 merc, that is mounted to a 1989 winner boat

How much of the system are ya changin' out,..??

Will have to ask about what helm it is, not sure, but the motor is a Mercury 150 Black Max V6. I just need the two steer cables I think, because they are worn out and are hard to steer the motor any at all. My friend checked them, and he is a mechanic on boats, where as he said they needed replacing, and then he tried to order them for me, but said that the company he was getting them through, no longer sold this product, and so I am turning to this forum for help in hopes to point me in the right direction.. Thanks

Sounds like he has a Donavan account Find out the length of your cables and Google the Pretech steering. You can get a whole replacement(helm & cables) cheaper than 2 single cables.

For your engine you need the Teleflex Dual Rack NFB system. Look at the motor end of one of your present cables to find the length of the cables.

Been there, done that. You'll like the system.

If your old cables are stiff and sticky, but not ruptured, you may be able to clean and lube them. BTW, the most common failure is over greasing the rods and getting grease in the cables. It jams them up. They run a light oil inside for lube.

Will check out what you say also J Martin.. I remember reading that a while back somewhere I think, just forgot about it till now when you mentioned it... I will do your checks first... Thanks
