dual to single exhaut can i

i purchased a lower unit online and they sent me an older force single exhaust when i have a 150 force 1990 dual exhaust. can i use the one they sent me or should i send it back

What year is the old one, you are trying to install ? I believe there is a cut off year no later than 1989 or 1990 that the lower unit will be interchangable up to 1994 due from going chrystler to mercury. I will check my notes and respond back later.
