Hey guys,

I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to propellers...but I am looking to replace my stock prop on my 2007 15hp Johnson (2 stroke). I use my boat (15ft tracker sportsman - riveted hull) on the upper Potomac River for duck hunting and bass fishing.

The stock prop seemed to work fine, but it is severely banged up from bouncing off rocks etc. I don't do too much running at WOT - because the river levels are typically low and there are several submerged obstacles that I am always looking out for. That said - I typically run the boat with a fairly heavy gear/passenger load. Other than the need to transport heavy loads up and down river, I don't really have any other specific requirements besides the desire to get on plane fairly quick.

So I guess the question is, does anyone have a recommendation for a good all around prop for my application? Not looking to spend a fortune. I realize that these types of discussions can get very technical, but any general guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Duck Hunting Prop

You might consider a 4 blade . Should make hole shot a little quicker,If you run at reduced speed the 4 blade may stay on plane easier at reduced throttle. It may seem smoother and may respond better around the dock.
You may lose a little top end.

10 x 9.5 - ebay, and get a few of them, plus some spare drive pins.

If the stock prop worked fine, before getting beat to hell, need to buy the same prop. rebuild for spare, onboard.

I agree. The quicker hole shot would be especially useful in chasing down those ducks. :)

Perhaps you should consider one of those mud motors where the prop runs right on the surface, or a jet outboard.
