I was thinking this would be good for spraying down my crank case to inhibit corrosion. Any product equal or better ? Can I buy it here in the U.S. ? Is this pure overkill ?

What about WD-40 products? It's designation is about Water Dispersant, so I would have thought spraying it over the engine would do the trick. You can spray it on electrical components such as distributors (inside & out) to keep out condensation too. Readily available and doesn't break the bank. I found they do a particular product called WD-40 Specialist, Long Term Corrosion Inhibitor. It claims to block corrosion for up to 1 year outside and up to 2 years inside.
