Hope I ask this clearly-
I have a 6gal tank on either side of my motor on back of my pontoon---
Can i "T" the two into a single line with a pump bulb into my motor so they would feed equaly ?
Just a thought to keep from climbing over the fence to change lines ( kinda lazy/love changing things)

In a perfect world, yes. But the world ain't perfect. 1st, there is no guarantee that they will feed evenly. One is bound to run out of gas before the other one. And when that one runs out of gas, the motor will suck air through that line instead of gas from the other line. So there you sit---out of gas even though one tank is half full.

But there is a way---instead of a Tee, install a selector valve to switch from one tank to the other. You can put the valve in a convenient place.

The other side of the dual feed discussion is that with the "rocking of the boat" so to speak, the level of the two tanks will be constantly uneven which could cause fuel to dribble out the of the lower tank. There is no way you can make this work reliably without a fuel transfer valve. Transfer valves are available in both manual and electric types.

The electric sounds very interesting-
I'll have to look into that, Was thinking a manual would be as hard to get to as just swaping the lines on motor-

Re: Duel Gas Tank -One feed line?

Sometimes run 2 tanks on an 30 HP for extended cruising and avoid taking spare gas cans along and gas transfer spill issues. Have installed a V inside engine which connects to each tank by menas of 2 outter quick connectors, the other side of the V connects to the fuel filter entrance. After priming both tanks near equall, close one air valve from any of them to suck from the other tank, when near empty and engine about to miss from fuel starvation, close air valve of empty tank and open other tank valve.

In my particular case use dual independent engine connector because both tanks are appart from each other, one at bow, other mid rib, both ballance rib nicely when boating solo. The issue on a pontoon boat is that will need to reach aft tanks air valves for the procedure, better install proper reachable transfer valves.

Happy Boating
