Duel vs single station sensors

I just got a project boat in which most of the senders were in rough shape so i'm pricing replacements. only issue is the boat seemed to come with duel station senders when its a one station boat. So would going with single stations senders mess with accuracy of the current gauges currently installed?

Gauges are the same for single or dual station. The senders have a different resistance ('dual' is half of the standard/'single' resistance). If you only have one station, you need to put standard senders in (not 'dual station' senders)....

Yea i completely agree, just wondering why monterey would install duel station senders, do they have custom gauges installed or add a resistor to the circuit to compensate? Like at the price duel senders are going for im better off buying new gauge sets and single station senders.

Are they 'standard' Merc gauges? Or some sort of custom gauge? You can check the 'operating range' of the gauge with a simple tester. Just buy a 33Ω resistor and a 240Ω resistor and put them in place of the sender, one at a time. With the 33Ω resistor, the gauge should read maximum (high oil pressure, high water temp, full trim depending on the gauge being tested), with the 240Ω they should read minimum (low pressure, cold engine, full down trim etc)

If the 33Ω doesn't make the gauge read full, try the grounding the wire. If that does, then the gauges are for a different sender range....
