Dumb Question - How do I know if I have points?

Hello all,

I have a 2000 volvo 5.7GS (Carbed) motor on a FW 248 Vista.

Do I have "points" that need to be checked? I'm not the most experienced, but trying to learn. As preventive maintenance I am replacing the rotor and distributor cap this weekend. Already changed plugs, all fluids, filters etc.

Should I have points to change too? What should I look for?

Also, should I change the spark plug wires?

Thanks,

1. No points, Volvo hasn't used points in V8's for 20 years or more.
2. Post your engines FULL model number (all those letters after the 5.7GS, or the SN, and I can post manual links for you.
