OK I'm looking at an 86 Suzuki DT 150. Can someone tell me why each cilynder has two spark plugs.

Re: Dumb Suzuki Question

I can't say for sure. But the DT150S is the only model between the 150 and 200 HP engine that is like that. Don't have an answer as to why....

Re: Dumb Suzuki Question

In theory, more spark, better fuel combustion, a degree of reliability through the redundancy of 2 plugs. Many small aircraft engines have 2 plugs per cylinder with twin magnetos firing for very high reliability. I believe the twin plugs on outboard motors is unnecessary overkill with very little advantage...guess that's why Suzuki quit making them that way. Good Luck!
