Wow, the original topic is up to 420 but has dropped of the front page. Aldo, I finally found a bottle of the "Nectar of the Gods" (spelled glenfiddich} $35.99 US for a 750 ml bottle what is the market price down under. I haven't enrolled in JB's Philosphy class yet, but expect I will set in soon. Now that the cricket match or battle of the ashes is over what will the next topic be. Weather continues to work toward cool here which means that you must be working on boating weather down under. If you don't have that boat finished, better get cracking. Regards.

Down here its about $60.00 but well worth it :) .

The ashes are over but the cricket continues. At the moment, there are matches between Australia v the worlds best (which is an oxymoron, because aussies are the worlds best) - we're kicking their butts!! The other threads not dead, just resting.

I boat all year round, no winter hiatus, which means that I should be working on it every weekend but fishing wins most times.

Aldo

In the words of the philospher - I'd rather be fishing. The sixty you speak of - is that US, Canadian or what? I have my conversion table handy. Yes, it is quite tasty.....
Ray.

That just it noelm, if fuel cost is the biggest thing we got to worry about - then life is pretty good

Ray, that would be in aussie dollars. A customer just gave me a 700ml bottle of Dimple, I'll do a taste test this weekend and report back.

Now yer talking my language :D

Glenfiddich........mmmmmmmmm ;)

Not a bad first introduction to the water of the gods but ALWAYS add a dash of water, us Scot's being how we're kinda mean, made it as a concentrate: it was designed to be watered down a bit.

Price in Bonny Scotland (in US$ so you don't have to do the math) is $21 :D

Hic! :p

Ah.... you have the worry of those Englishmen coming down to you in a little while and kicking your butt's again.

My main worry is that it only takes 3 tests to retain the little urn, that will take the edge off the Melbourne & Sydney matches ;) :D :D

Hey Dunarunna, how is the Dimple?
Stan deezy, sounds like we pay quite a bit for tarriff. Even so, about the same as a Johnnie Walker, Black Label. A comparable taste IMHO.

Haven't had a chance to try it yet, I'm waiting for a special occasion.

It's my son's 20th in a few weeks, I'll give it a nudge then.

Any of you guys tried our other two national waters?

Glayva or Drambuie?

Personally I prefer Glayva, but if you've never tried it beware
It goes down real easy, like cough syrup, then you lose the feeling in your legs :D
I used to do very good pinball impersonations after a night on Glayva chasers

Well....I have been known to spend an occasional night on the Glayva (whisky)and am also partial to both G and D in the thicker model.
I have quite a few bottles of Glenfiddich tucked away in certain spots, but i have gone away from it since they stopped putting it in those neat oblong painted tins. I use to have quite a collection one time.
Cheers
Phillip

I have seen Drambuie on the shelf. I was alerted to its exisistence while watching the movie, The Color of Money. In the Hustler, the forerunner to The Color of Money, Fast Eddie was always calling JTS Braus. Bourbon. I have not seen this and assume it to be a ficticious call. The White Tavern that Minnesota Fats was calling is a genuine brand.
Remember the ads in Playboy that showed a looker looking at a man carring an oversized bottle of, I think, Fleischmans Bourbon. I don't find this on the self anymore.
Glavvya, I don't know. Remember to drink responsibly. ;)

drink responsibly? does that mean no dribbling at the mouth :)
not much on the hard stuff but a glass of crown royal or jack danials silver label goes well after a day of fishing in the cold :)

Well Rod, your definintion of responsible is a matter of record. ;) Aside from the fancy package I don't find much recommendation for Crown Royal, and I have never heard of Jack Daniels Silver Lable. Taste, like opinion is a personal thing and often cultivated. :D

I am confused by the logic of that statement as well. Kind of a cop out for the for the more cogent slogan - If you drink don't drive. Boating endorses the same conduct. ;)
