Owner's manuals from volvopenta.com. OEM service manuals from boatinfo.no. It would also help to know which model of duoprop you have.

I think you need to be more specific.Never heard of dp cd trim. The Duo props come with a wide range A-B-C-D-F
DP 280-290S drives Type A B C
DPX Type E
DPX -DPS E-D-F
DPH Type G
DPR Type R

Up Top. Then Volvo Penta

metal tag on the drive, port side, kind of hidden by the trim cylinder. It will give you the serial number along with the model number and gear ratio.
DPS-A drive, didn't come out till '06.

My 1991 drive says DP CD Trim on it. It is a DP-A next thing after a 290DP in genealogy. Full acronym is 570/DP.

Click on the pic to see larger version, shows red arrow that points to the tag. If the drive is tilted UP, you probably can't see it.
If it is original to the boat it should be a 280 or 290.
The DP-A came after the 290's, as Maclin stated. The progression is DP-A, DP-A1, DP-A2, DP-B, DP-B1, DP-C, DP-C1, DP-D, DP-D1 & DP-E
the single props were SP-A, SP-A1, SP-A2, SP-C & SP-E , that is all you need to identify those drives, no number in front of it. You won't find any of these labeled "290" . It gets confusing, the 290A-DP and 290-DP are not the same as DP-A .

zell do you still have the old props? Do they say something like B1 or A3 ? Do you have all the original pieces?
Sometimes there is line cutters or just thrust washers . The outer thrust washer can stick in the rear prop, easy to lose if it falls out at the wrong time.
The line cutters basically have the thrust washer built in. Parts labeled 43 & 48 are line cutters, probably not available anymore but you might have them.
Other pic shows the thrust washers, the outer one alone is like $60.00 !

Good stuff K-2 :eagerness:.

The thrust washer fits inside the raised hub of the line cutter and although a pressed fit they can fall out. I had my props off during my first winter with these DuoProps and had made a drawing of the order the parts went on then just tplaced all the stuff into a box. Next spring when I put my refurbed props on I had a washer left over in the box, ouch. Then figured out where it had to go. The separate press fit thrust washer(s) are not called out in the drawing, kind of a big detail for Volvo to have left out of the diagram in my opinion!

zell does either of those drawings look familiar?
Do you have any of the pieces?
Maclin, yes poor diagrams, the prop thing is kind of a confusing mystery at times, hard to find
a good explanation of all the options , this is basically what I have: the line cutter 3rd down on left goes on first,
then the front prop, then the lock tab washer thing then the nut, then the last line cutter , bottom center in pic goes over the nut/tab lock, then the rear prop then the black spinner, there is usually a plastic ring that goes on the front of the spinner, just sort of a gap filler piece.
The big nut may be the new style which is a big nylock nut so there is no lock down tab washer to deal with, that is shown in one of the drawings I posted.
Put it all together with PROP GREASE!
