Dust to dust

Well, I'm pleased to say I've just about got my transom ready for re-lamination... got all the old plywood out with a chainsaw, air hammer and chisel, and a grinder. Those 3m flap sanding disks rock.

But, now there's a ton of dust all over everything. I can blow it around with compressed air, and vacuum some up with the shop vac, but there's still a lot. Any suggestions for cleanup before I laminate? Maybe power wash the whole interior of the stern and let it dry before I work?

Or does it matter?

If you've got the time and the weather to do it, I would wash it out. I ruined a big wet and dry vac cleaning my boat out.

Depending on what type of filter your wet/dry vac has..... you need to increase it. Some places sell fiber cloth type filters that help.

Yes if you have the time and resources........... wash it out and let it dry.

Just Blow Out the Area you want to Work in with Compressed Air.......

If there's abit of Dust left,.... Unless it's a big pocket of Dust,.... It'll just be reincorporated into the Resin......

Don't Blow it around. You'll (and family) just end up breathing it in. Once you have it in your lungs it's there to stay.. I KNOW!
Wet it down and wash it away. Water ain't gonna hurt your boat. Once it's dry you're good to go.
Shopvac: I wrapped and taped kleenex around the filter. Replace them ever so often when doing fine grit glass and driwall dust. Panyhose works to for well also for larger dust and fibre. Save a few bucks on filters.
