Re: Dwell Setting????
Dwell isn't real important. It's strictly a compromise between "burning" the points and not adequately "saturating" the coil for good spark. At first I was anal about dwell, and as I learned more about it, I realized that "dwell" only worked for a specific rpm, and the tolerance in the condenser/capacitor was so great that the specific dwell setting was pretty much a guess.
Basically, it's an LRC (inductance/resistance/capacitance) resonant system.
aim for 30 degrees on a 8 cylinder engine..more on a 6 or 4. Dwell is the time the points are CLOSED.
