My 2006 75hp E-tec has always been rough between 1200-1800 RPM's. The dealer and another technician both have told me that this is normal part of the fuel mapping program. How's this sound?

Re: E-Tec 75hp rough in transition range

I had a 2000 Evinrude 150 Ficht which did the exact same thing. Dealer could never resolve the problem. They loved to talk about mapping and new software downloads,etc.,etc., must have tried more than a dozen fixes, none made any difference at all. ( I dont care what Bomb. says, the internals of the new engines look a whole lot like a Ficht). The transition from stratified to homogenous produces this problem on many of their engines from what I hear.Dealer finally bought the engine back, then put a new 03 Evinrude D.I.-150 on my boat, it had somewhat the same running characteristics, just not as bad. I got tired of it, sold the rig.
