I tore down the lower on a E25RCNB. All the seals have been reinstalled and I'm working on assembling the water pump. I ordered the kit "18-3383 - Water Pump Kit, With Housing 395270" and everything seems to fit back as it should. The issue that I'm having is when I attach the lower to a hose with an adapter on the water port, water is able to flow up the driveshaft. The lower gearcase view on MarineEngine's website lists seal #14 "18-2030 - Seal, 321786" that is supposed to fit in between the cup and the pump housing. 1st, the kit didn't come with that seal as it should if it's needed. 2nd There is absolutely no room to put the seal there. I've seen some videos of folks having a pump housing that the seal goes on the outside. Well, that part number seal doesn't fit there either. Additionally, I have a tube that fits in the pump housing and up the driveshaft about 3" give or take. Others have an o-ring on the inside of the housing, but I don't have a spot for for that either. There was no type of seal when I pulled it apart, but I can't really trust that since I found blue RTV EVERYWHERE on the inside as a previous owner tried anything but ordering proper parts. So who knows what else the did or didn't do?
I have some pictures and videos if needed. It really seams like some kind of seal is supposed to keep water from making it's way up the driveshaft and water tube. And i could see maybe how the water hose is applying too much pressure and forcing water through. BUT mind you, I turned the water on very slow and there is not much pressure at all needed.
Thank you in advance!
