On my new-to-me Sylvan with the above engine, the P.O. has a horn on the dash that is not functional.

I would like to know where the warning horn for the VRO is. If it's on the motor or at the tank, I'm ok. If it is the one on the dash, I will have to do some work when I get the service manual.

The former owner did some wiring that is going to be replaced or removed or done right. I have started with removing the wire nuts from the trailer plug wiring, and got a little more with the CB radio removal.

Thanks

The only horn I can see is in the control box. I guess someone could have wired another one in. Do you have an OEM manual? (it will become your best friend) You could short your temp and oil sender and see what horn sounds off.

No manual -yet. I don't think that the dash horn is the for the VRO. I was ripping and tearing wiring out, and the dash horn was pulling power from a wire spliced into the CB power wire.

Normal location would be in the control. Mine (95-40hp Johnson) sounds every time I turn the key to on. I've always assumed it's a system check to tell you your warning horn is functioning. Poorly done wiring i a frustrating thing to fix. Best of luck. Rick.

Making progress. Zip tied lots of loose stuff back by the oil tank, and there is room for the battery to go where it belongs.

All that is left to do is wire the dash horn.

Went to the BRP parts site and guess what- the warning horn is in the control box. Even had a separate part no. Shudda looked there first.

Thanks for the help

The OMC 4 test/warning light gauge comes with the warning horn/buzzer, it is normally mounted to gauge mount screw behind dash. Same horn for all warnings.
