Hello,
I just bought a 22' Formula sitting on a 1989 Eagle dual-axle Trailer. I noticed that one of the bunks was sagging slightly off the hull, and today once the boat was in the water for the season I took a closer look. I tried to pick the bunk up where it was sagging and the bunk crumbled in my hand- the entire thing was completely rotted. I looked at the others and they all seem solid. Not really sure how or why one bunk is rotted to nothing and the others are in good shape. My question is what are the steps to making a new bunk? Are they just pressure treated wood with outdoor carpet on them, or is there a special procedure to follow? Should I coat the new wood with resin? Also does it make sense to replace the other bunks while I am doing this one? I've never had to do work on a trailer before. Thanks in advance for the help.
