any other die-hard fans out there? god i'm so pissed. what a way to spend my day off. we just couldn't produce. our weaknesses were exagerated by the multitude of injuries, and we were the second best team on the field yesterday.

any thoughts on next year? i have to keep the faith, but with vincent, taylor, emmons, and staley probably gone, it's a tough call. andy has managed to put together a winning team each year, desite the personnel losses, but it may be too much this year. i'll keep my fingers crossed and watch the offseason closely.

Re: eagles

Not a fan Matt, but you guys will make the playoffs again next year. You are in a weak division. :p

Re: eagles

Matt, I've been a die hard Eagles fan since I could watch tv. I knew that when the Cats scored first and the Birds did not put any points on the board in response that it was going to be a replay of last year. I was definity ticked that the ref's where not calling any Holding penalties. Or for that late hit on McNabb. But I suppose I'm use to it, the Birds get to the big games and choke.

The Cats were playing real good yesterday, very physical football. I think they had the WR's quaking in their shoes. There was no excuse for the droppped passes. The only one that I feel pulled their weight on the field was Duce, and the rest of the team let him down. Losing Him will be a big loss. But I wouldn't blame him.

Re: eagles

i thought duce played with a lot of heart yesterday. hopefully some of his teammates take a lesson from his performance. i didn't like his preseason antics of holding out, but now understand he was simply giving the eagles a chance to resign him. i admire the way he went out each week and played hard, despite being part of a 3 headed running attack. i think he will be missed.

Matt, I suppose that is one of the good things about having the dish. I don't get to see the Philly hyperbole. The media and their own mouth was their own worst enemy. They would make statements that they just could not back up. It will be intresting to see what the team looks like after the dust settles from the off season.

Re: eagles

I gotta disagree with your analysis of a late hit on mcnabb. Next time you watch the play through and I'm sure they will be playing it, watch carefully. What you will see is the guy who hit him glancing back to the reff in expectation of the play being called dead...It wasn't so he had a job to do. Oh sure he could have walked over there and gingerly patted mcnabb but get real this is the NFL and he is paid well to end any live plays. It is unfortunate he was injured on the play but it was not a malicious hit.

On a side note, I am not a fan of a team but rather good football. That game was pathetic...

Re: eagles

Neumanns, While I agree the Game was Pathetic the explaination I heard about the reason the flag was not thrown was that the ref. didn't see McNabb go down by contact. Jesus he had his shoe ripped off that's what made him go down. The ref's where blind the entire game IMHO or just alot more liberal then usual.

I beleive the Birds beat themselves everytime though. When the Cats put points up first and they were not answered along with the pick they let themselves be beat. They were all thinking "Here we go Again."

Re: eagles

I didn't see it as a late hit either, at first. When I saw the play at speed, I thought McNabb tripped over Duce (or whoever else was in the backfield) and went down. After seeing the play in slow-mo a couple times you could see that he was down by contact. I don't think it was a dirty hit, I would have pounced on him also. It stinks that he got injured on the play, cause Carolina keyed in on that and really worked his body after that hit.

I think one of the announcers (during one of the games) said it best. The best officials are the ones you don't hear from. Let the players decide the outcome, not the referees.

Re: eagles

He was down...However the play is not over till it's called. You cannot hope the reff's get it right, ya gotta play it as it's called. IMO

Mattt sorry not trying to change your threads direction no opinion there just my observations.

Re: eagles

I didn't think that it was a late hit. these guys are pros The q.b. is protected very well with the rules.
Even if the q.b. wasn't injured the results Of the game most likely would have been the same. The eagles receivers must have dropped a good dozen passes that should have been caught.
I'm neither a philly fan nor a carolina fan.Just a true "PATRIOTS FAN".
It does not matter who the patriots play They will be the "SUPER BOWL CHAMPS" :) ;)

Life long Eagles fan here. All I can say is they played horrible. If you watched them this year you would have seen that they played just as bad in lots of games but got the win anyway by the seat of their pants. I am just disgusted but not surprised at the preformance sunday. They need to work on the O line and the recievers. The D line should be healthy next season.
