Rodbolt you are the expert on this can you provide some input. As far as I can see this motor is similar to the Suzuki on the oiling. *I could be wrong.

depends on the motor, none of the US market Yamaha engines used a flow sensor.
I normally reccomend maintaining the precision blend system over removal unless the engine is older than 1995 and is used in saltwater AND has a major malfunction of the oil pump.
the reason for the pre 95 is the steel shift shaft and 1989 and older motors had the oil line check valves located in the pump assy,if they fail, they fill a cylinder and the intake and air box with oil.
only cure is to replace the old Kien pump with the later style mikuni and that can get expensive depending on the model being serviced.
