I accidentally posted in the wrong forum before, so I will try to repost here.

Long story short, we lost the lower unit drain plug in our early-90's Mercury 25hp long stem tiller drive engine. The catch is that the engine is at our fishing camp a long way from where I am currently sitting. I don't have access to the model # or year.

Does anyone know if the plugs from that era are standard sized? Was hoping to pick up the part (just a slotted bolt and a gasket, I think) and get the engine back up and running during our first trip to the remote camp this year. If not, I will have to find the model # and put the repair off until later in the season.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Standard plug for many years.--------Most shops have them used in a bin or new ones.-----Even one from Evinrude will fit I think.

A 1/2" long 3/8 bolt and a sealing washer would work in a pinch

I buggered this all up by originally posting to the wrong forum and then reposting here. Should have waited for moderator to move it. Sorry.

Moderator moved it and then asked if it filled with water after the plug fell out. I don't want to answer that... :blue: . Will cross my fingers and let the cards fall where they may. That engine has been through a lot so I'm going to stay optimistic.

Thanks for the input, everyone. I found the part I need to get.
