Is it actually in low range, or is the light just on?

I know on my old blazer, had to be in neutral to shift in and out of low range.

My buddy had a 88 Bronco I think with the push button 4x4. He had to push the button and drive around in reverse until it popped out of 4x4.

Manual hubs were standard, automatic hubs were an option.

There is no computer that controls the 4 X 4. There is a servo motor on the side of the transfer case. Check the connections carefully.

If you pull off the servo motor, I believe it will revert back to 2-high, as I recall. Most likely, it is the connection.

As far as ABS light goes, check to see that all of your rear brake lights are working, including the high mount.

Ron,

Most likely, it is the connections that are giving you problems. That is a high splash area.

If that does not work, remove the motor itself.

You might want to check the recall list on the ABS. Seems to me that the first couple of years that ford used ABS on the broncos it did not go so well. I remember kissing the windshield a couple of times when driving my bosses Bronco. He said there had been a recall on them.

I finally got it out of low range alot of backand fourth it was making alot of grinding noise finaly came out,but the 4x4 light is still on,had to put a new battery in it too.might make a pretty good little project 4x4 to get my feet wet, father in law is buying the parts and am working on it and driving it .

The back passnger side brake locks up when you fist drive it,it also feels like a wheel bearing is going out on the front, theres alot of vibration when you hit the brakes,i carried it to the lake bed too see what it'd do the backend wants to come around constanly in the mud,i guess i me a new tinker toy im still gong to the poerwagon soon hopefully .

yea, you gotta be carefull "handing it out" in a bronco, I drive a '96

Once the *** end starts sliding, it can be hard to straghten it like in a longer truck are car, I I ended up in a few front yards while messing around in the snow.

Not sure if it matters to you now, but my '96 has the same push botton 4WD and it will not go into low range, or come out of lowrange unless the truck is in netural, it goes in and out eaiser if your slowley rolling in neutral while you press the button
