Hi,
Have a 9.9 zuke kicker that I'm trying to ressurect.... Got it for free from a buddy who also got it for free from another guy. It runs great and starts pretty good as long as its not flooded but I cannot get it to idle down for trolling speeds to save my life. It will idle for 10 seconds or so, then I hear what sounds like a backfire coming from the exhaust (this is running in a barrel of water) and then it tries to die on me. If you keep your hand in the throttle she will stay running though. This is an oil injection model.
Tried:
Fresh quality gas
Ethanol Treatment
Upgraded to Amsoil TCW3 two stroke oil
Seafoamed, and used carb cleaner
Emptied the Oil injector and ran 50:1 mix through it (made it worse)
fresh spark plugs
adjusted timing and carb adjust screws
Guessing its either a compression issue or the carb needs to be rebuilt. Not looking to spend a bunch of money on it and will sell cheap if I cant get it running. Need a kicker for my bayliner as my electric motor runs through the batteries pretty quick.
Thanks.
