In a message I read on I/O repair and questions, it said "hook the boat up to earmuffs in your driveway?" What does this mean?

Re: Earmuffs

Earmuffs hook up to a garden hose and fit over the water intakes to supply coolant without having to go to your nearest lake/river.They sell for 8 to 12 dollars wherever marine parts are sold.<br />Welcome to IBoats.

Re: Earmuffs

Some I/Os and most outboards get their water for cooling from inlets in the lower unit. Muffs are two rubber disks that fit over the inlets. You connect a water hose to one of the disks and turn the water on. You can then run your motor safely as the muffs provide the water for cooling. They look kinds like earmuffs that you wear up North when it is cold in the winter.
